Mie Prefecture is one of Japan’s leading producers of farmed sea bream. To ensure consistent quality, we’ve established strict production standards and guarantee product excellence. The feed used for Ise Madai includes powdered blends of Mie’s local specialties—Ise tea, citrus, and seaweed—which are rich in polyphenols known to improve the texture and flavor of the fish. As a result, Ise Madai has minimal odor and excess fat, allowing the natural umami of the sea bream to shine. It is also rich in high-quality protein, unsaturated fatty acids (DHA and EPA), and essential vitamins such as C, D, E, B1, and pantothenic acid. One of its key features is its excellent shelf life.

Ise Buri (Yellowtail)
Ise Buri is a farmed yellowtail unique to Mie, raised on feed blended with Ise tea, citrus, and seaweed. About two months before shipment, the fish are fed this special blend to enhance their quality. Polyphenols in tea leaves help prevent oxidation, improving shelf life and reducing discoloration. Seaweed provides dietary fiber and fucoidan, which support fish health, while limonene from citrus helps reduce odor. These thoughtful practices result in a premium yellowtail with concentrated flavor and exceptional freshness. At Mie Fisheries Cooperative (Mie Gyoren), we process fresh fish from various regions of Japan—including Mie, Kagoshima, and other parts of Kyushu—at our Mie Gyoren Live Fish Distribution Center located in Kanagawa. From there, we handle shipments throughout Japan as well as exports to destinations around the world. To deliver fresh Japanese fish to dining tables worldwide at more affordable prices, Mie Gyoren is also developing a system that enables direct sales to consumers living overseas.
